JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- Police are investigating a traffic crash that occurred at 6:50 a.m. on Henderson Drive, near Jacksonville High School, in which a student was struck in a hit and run. 

  • Officers were able to find the driver
  • 31-year-old Tasia Da-ne White has been charged with felony hit-and-run inflicting serious injury and failure to yield a pedestrian.
  • No word yet on the condition of the pedestrian

Officers managed to locate the vehicle and driver, and have charged 31-year-old Tasia Da-ne White with felony hit-and-run inflicting serious injury and failure to yield a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian has been transported for medical treatment,” said Deputy Chief Ashley Weaver. “We are in the preliminary stages of this investigation and we are unable to release additional information at this time.”  

“The improved pedestrian crossing has resulted in greater safety for the students, but drivers have responsibility to obey the law for the crossing” said Chief Yaniero.

Between November 26 and December 7, officers issued 136 citations for speeding. Seventy-two of those were school zone citations.
