GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Another large storm system will track over the Carolinas through the weekend.

  • Rain to continue through Saturday evening
  • Melting snow and rainfall could lead to flash flooding
  • Decreasing clouds by Sunday afternoon
Look for periods of rain, some heavy, to continue through Saturday evening.  The heavy rain will accelerate the snow melt and that combination is expected to cause flooding or even flash flooding for parts of the region.  The threat for flooding will be highest Friday night through Saturday evening. A flash flood watch is post for the region until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Gradual drying is set for Sunday as the storms begins to lift northeast.  Although a shower will still be possible on Sunday, look for decreasing clouds by afternoon.  More importantly, a much quieter long term range weather pattern is looking likely for next week.

That means you can expected several days, maybe even a week, of dry and seasonable December weather!
