According to an email sent to students, faculty and staff, a student said between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. Monday morning, she was sleeping in a common room at the Central Campus Apartment building on Pace Street.

That's when a man woke her up with a knife pointing at her.

She said the man threatened her, put on a condom, and forced her to have sex with him.

The student says she was approached by a white male with short brown hair that had "a perfume smell about him."

"As a graduate student, I don't live on campus but something like that happening in the area is pretty terrifying," said student Taylor Brennan.

Some students say more needs to be done to protect women.

"I think it's also somewhat indicative, just like the times we live in today, and how people can perceive violence against women to be acceptable. It's just not acceptable," said Karman Karapavani.

There has been an increase in campus patrol in the area.
