Another night of heavy frost and icy roads is set to play out for the Triad, because temperatures will once again fall into the middle 20s.  However, once we climb over freezing Thursday morning, we should remain there through the weekend. Now, another day of passing high clouds is expected Thursday even though dry weather will hold on through the evening hours.

Meanwhile, a strengthening storm system will be organizing to our west, and that storm is set to arrive with rain on Friday. This storm will track much farther to the north than the previous winter storm, so all rain and no snow! Nonetheless, periods of heavy rain seem likely for a good portion of central NC, as over an inch of rain is possible through early Saturday. Now, normally an inch wouldn't be a big deal for us, but with all the snow melt over the past few days the ground will already be saturated. That means there'll be nowhere for all the water to go.  So ultimately, significant flooding may play out over the weekend.
