Another beautiful day across the Carolinas as high pressure builds in from the west. Sadly all of the sunshine did not translate into warm temperatures. Highs today ranged from 10 to 15 degrees below average. Many locations peaked in the 40s this afternoon. If you thought it was chilly today then get ready for tonight. Winds have been cool and breezy out of the northwest all day, and that will continue tonight. Across the Greensboro-Triad area and northern locations like Roxboro and Roanoke Rapids, expect lows in the lower 20s. For the Triangle and the Sandhills expect lows ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s.

That frigid setting will carry over to first thing Wednesday morning. Wednesday will likely be the coldest day in the workweek. Highs will max in the low 40s for the Triad and mid to upper 40s for the Triangle and Sandhills. High pressure will keep our weather clear and dry through Thursday.

By late Thursday/early Friday the high will shift just offshore, creating a moist southerly flow for our area. This moisture flow will eventually bring back clouds and rain to the area. We'll likely deal with a few isolated showers late Friday and more widespread rain through the weekend.
