NORTH CAROLINA --  While the rain has stopped across the Triad region, drivers still need to be cautious as flooded conditions remain.

Rockingham County is feeling the after effects of Hurricane Florence as heavy rain from over the weekend is causing the Dan and Mayo rivers to rise at an alarming rate.

Officials have set up an emergency operations center at the Madison Police Department to keep track of emergency calls throughout the county and rising river levels.

By late Monday morning, officials were measuring the Dan River at about 20 feet and projecting it will rise another six feet by the end of the day.

Fields around Big Beaver Island Creek are also completely flooded. Officials said the flooding would likely get worse throughout the day.

Officials are also encouraging everyone to avoid these areas and be extremely careful driving.
