NORTH CAROLINA — Power outages due to Hurricane Florence fell to under 200,000 in North Carolina Wednesday.

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday there are 199,587 statewide outages, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. There have been 2,600 rescues so far. 

More than 6,000 Duke Energy workers are out in the coastal regions attempting to restore power. These workers are currently focused on restoring power emergency centers, fire stations, hospitals, airports, water treatment and other public safety and health facilities.

NC Electric Cooperatives says they have 59,344  members without power

Duke Energy says they they have 141,793 customers without power
