GREENSBORO, N.C. -- As expected, we had a reprieve from the widespread storms yesterday with highs generally in the upper 80s.

The drier air, which provided us with the quiet Thursday, is retreating northward and muggier air is returning to the region. At the same time, a disturbance began the day over Missouri and Arkansas, and that disturbance will roll through the Carolinas tonight.

A few late-day storms are possible today, but we might actually have better scattered shower and storm chances tonight due to the timing of that disturbance. Highs today will be in the upper 80s with lows tonight in the lower 70s.

Over the weekend, we will continue to have highs in the 80s with scattered showers and storms possible each afternoon. Monday's weather then looks very much the same before another dry stretch of weather tries to settle in Tuesday through Thursday next week.
