GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Guilford County Courthouse in Greensboro went on lock down late Wednesday morning due to reports of shots fired in the area.

  • Shots traced to parking lot beside courthouse
  • Brawl broke out minutes later
  • Courts and city hall were put on lock down

Police quickly shut down Washington Street in front of the Governmental Plaza in Greensboro after the first report came in at 10:42 a.m.

The shots were traced to the parking lot beside the courthouse. Minutes later, police say a brawl started just in front of the building.

Authorities broke up the fight and took several people into custody.

Both the courts and city hall were locked down under their active shooter protocol.

The lock down was lifted around early afternoon. Police believe it's an isolated incident.
