AUSTIN, Texas — The Travis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate.

Twenty-one-year-old Herman Titus was taken from the jail to a hospital by ambulance Monday in critical condition. He died shortly afterwards.

Detectives say so far there is no evidence to suggest foul play.

Because of the recent passage of the Sandra Bland Act, the sheriff's office has requested the Texas Rangers complete an independent investigation.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death.

This is a developing story. Stay with Spectrum News for details as they become available.
