WINSTON-SALEM -- One of the Tar Heel State's largest breweries celebrated National Beer Day on Thursday with a big expansion.

Foothills in Winston-Salem brought in three 400-barrel fermenters to its warehouse.

Standing at 30 feet tall, they'll help brew a lot of the company's most popular beers.

"These big tanks, mainly they'll brew our IPAs. Hoppyum is our number one bestseller, but since we put Jade in 12 ounce bottles, it's shot up pretty quick," said T.I. Adkisson, brewmaster.

Foothills opened the 48,000 square foot distribution center and brewery in 2011.

This is its third expansion.
