Award-winning anchor Jonathan McCall joined the Spectrum News Charlotte team in 2018 as our evening anchor.
Before arriving in the Queen City, he’s made stops along the way in Baltimore, Tulsa, and Las Vegas. Born and raised in Houston, Jonathan was bitten by the journalism bug when he was just 4 years old.
Jonathan’s work has been featured on CNN, CBS and The Weather Channel.
Throughout his career he’s had an opportunity to cover some of the biggest stories in the country.
Jonathan is a veteran of the United States Navy. During his time in the military, he served as a certified forecaster, helping to plan a number of missions and operations during Operation Enduring Freedom. While in the military he also filed stories for Navy-Marine Corps News and the Pentagon Channel.
Jonathan's reporting helped his station win back-to-back Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences-Pacific Southwest Chapter in 2009 and 2010 for Best Morning Newscast.
In 2013, he was honored as Best News Anchor and for Best Breaking News reporting from the NATAS-Lone Star Chapter.
When he’s not behind the desk or in the newsroom, you can find Jonathan spending time with his son Nathaniel, out exploring and eating his way through Charlotte and cheering on his hometown, Rockets, Astros and Texans.
