RALEIGH--Road crews got a jump start this weekend by pre-treating the roads with brine.

"So we've been brining all day, and we'll brine throughout the night and all day tomorrow," said Scott Hecht, Public Works director for the town of Cary.

Officials say the brine will help stop the build-up of ice and snow on the roads. Major roads and highways have already been treated.

The winter weather is expected cause headaches for drivers from Monday evening through Tuesday.

"I got to drive all the way to Fayetteville, so hopefully I won't have to drive tomorrow," said Hector Juarez.

"Roads aren't too bad. I'm from Boston so I'm used to bad weather and snow. It's the other drivers I'm worried about," said Kris Reed.

Officials ask that drivers be careful out on the roads and give yourself enough time to drive slowly and get to your location.
