Maranda Whittington joined Spectrum in July of 2020. She graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in telecommunications in 2016.

While working at KSLA in Shreveport, Louisiana, Maranda earned a Military Reporters and Editors Journalism Award for her work on a series that focused on the military.

Maranda’s coverage shared inspiring stories of service members, veterans, and people working to support the military.

She was also nominated for an Emmy for team coverage of a police officer who was shot and killed in 2018.

She says great storytelling not only allows her to give others a voice, but helps viewers become better citizens. She says it’s an honor to meet interesting people every day and share their stories with her community.

Maranda has moved around the majority of her life and is happy to end up in North Carolina, because she believes you really can’t top southern hospitality!
