CHARLOTTE-The Carolina Panthers opened their three-day mini camp on Tuesday, with some members of the defense bristling at being excluded in a recent ranking of the top defensive fronts in the NFL.

  • Defensive end Mario Addison was among those that disagreed with the snub
  • Feels his group can excel this season with so many familiar faces returning
  • Addison and Julius Peppers each had 11 quarterback sacks

Defensive end Mario Addison was among those that disagreed with the snub, and feels his group can excel this season with so many familiar faces returning.

"The challenge is play up to our abilities," Addison said Tuesday. "First we have to challenge ourselves, and worry about ourselves before we go after the next man.  We feed off each other, that's how I get my energy."

The Panthers were 3rd in the NFL in sacks in 2017, with 50.  Addison and Julius Peppers each had 11 quarterback sacks.
