Growing up in Raleigh, Madison Cavalchire fondly remembers her childhood in the family and friend-filled city she loves to call home. On both the track team and cheerleading squad, Madison kept busy during the school year, followed by relaxing summers spent playing at Shelley Lake Park and jet skiing on Falls Lake. However, after this UNC alum spent one year reporting in central Georgia, Madison was happy to join the Spectrum News Team in July 2017. While she was thrilled to accept the opportunity to provide news coverage for the community she calls home, her excitement certainly didn’t end there, as she would have the chance to enjoy more dinners with her dad, who cooks the best Italian in town!
Cherishing the time she spends with friends and family, Madison often finds inspiration for her stories within the conversations she shares with the people for whom she cares most. Looking deeply into the issues that have an impact on the local community, Madison’s passion draws largely upon the unique opportunity to tell the stories and provide the solutions that will help to improve the lives of her viewers. Most notable of these opportunities is Madison’s time spent traveling coast to coast during Hurricane Florence. Despite the ruin left behind by the storm, neighbors still welcomed Madison and her team into their homes to share their stores. Witnessing the resilient spirit of her beloved home state has been a highlight of Madison’s career.
When she’s not out chasing stories or catching up with friends, Madison enjoys staying active on her Peloton bike. She loves her instructor’s motivational quotes! However, if you catch Madison out in Raleigh, feel free to say hi. After all, the warm waves and friendly greetings from strangers passing by is one of her favorite Southern traditions.
