BEATTYVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky State Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Three Forks Regional Jail on Saturday, May 31.

Jeffrey Harrison, age 43, of Lexington, was accidentally released from custody after he impersonated his brother, who was eligible for release. KSP learned of the escape Sunday. Jailers didn’t realize Harrison was gone until staff conducted roll call Sunday night.

Harrison is a white man, weighing 138 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, camouflaged shoes and a black hat. He is believed to have left in an older model white Subaru.

Harrison was in jail serving a sentence for promoting contraband in the first degree, which according to Kentucky statutes is knowingly bringing dangerous contraband into a detention facility or penitentiary. It’s a Class D felony, which in Kentucky carries a sentence of one to five years in prison.
