  • Deputies say he took money and didn't repair the homes or businesses impacted
  • Deputies say there could be more victims

Craven County deputies have charged 47-year-old Christopher Carter with 18 felonies. They say he took money for roof repairs and never did the work at damaged businesses and homes.

Investigators say he got away with $35,000 from people in Craven, Beaufort, and Halifax counties. Deputies say there could be more victims in other areas and ask you reach out to them if you may have been a victim.

"There will be zero tolerance for subjects who take advantage of hurricane survivors," Sheriff Hughes said.
