NEW BERN, N.C. -- Police are investigating after a human skull was found Friday morning.

New Bern city workers found the skull while cleaning a ditch. They say the human remains were found on Oaks Road, not far from the Neuse River.

There's no word on how long the skull was there  or how it got there. The SBI is aiding the investigation.
