Cold high pressure continues across western North Carolina Wednesday, bringing us another day of unseasonably cold weather. A warming trend beginning Thursday will precede a cold front expected to bring rain back to the region beginning late Friday.

Bundle up Wednesday morning! All areas along the coast will be off to a very cold start with temperatures in the 20s to low 30s. The growing season for Pender, New Hanover, Brunswick, and Columbus counties has officially come to an end Wednesday morning as temperatures dipped to below freezing for the first time this season.  Sunshine will continue today with highs only managing to reach into the low to mid 40s. Expect a mainly clear and cold night ahead on Wednesday as lows plummet into the mid 20s to low 30s once again.

Thursday will kick off a warming trend ahead of a cold front set to pass through Sunday. Although Thursday through Friday will remain dry, rain chances will creep back into the forecast beginning Saturday and continue into Sunday. Daytime highs should be back into the 60s for many by Friday and 70s by Saturday and Sunday. Brief clearing will resume behind the front Monday afternoon into early Tuesday with another system set to bring rain to the area late Tuesday afternoon.
