WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Saturday's heavy rain broke records in Wilmington according to the National Weather Service.
After it rained almost an inch-and-a-half in six hours, the city's annual rainfall for this year is now 95.25 inches and will likely reach 100 before the end of the year.
The current rainfall record was at 83.65 inches, set back in 1877.
