NORTH CAROLINA – The State Highway Patrol plans to increase patrols over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

  • NC SHP will be increasing patrols November 21 -25.
  • Troopers will be placed every 20 miles on I-40.
  • You can call *HP if you need help. 

AAA says Thanksgiving is one of the busiest holidays for travel in the nation.

Troopers say they will be out in full force to monitor driver behavior.

There will be Troopers placed every 20 miles along I-40.

SHP advises that drivers can assist with safe travel by following a few tips:

  • Anticipating delays and planning accordingly.
  • Reducing speed
  • Increasing following distance
  • Avoiding distracted driving
  • Never driving impaired
  • Making plans for transportation if you plan to become impaired
  • Moving over for emergency vehicles.
