Happy Labor Day! Our forecast for the next several days will be all about persistence! Expect the summertime warmth to continue along with minimal chances for showers and storms.

High pressure to our north Monday will lead to a mainly dry day across the region with chances for scattered showers and weak storms to develop just off the coast thanks to a persisting sea breeze. Highs will warm to near 90 for many. The rip current risk will be moderate for all North Carolina beaches for those beach goers on this Labor Day.

Expect no major change to the forecast over the next several days. Highs will remain slightly above average in the upper 80s to low 90s with mid-80s along the Outer Banks. Daily isolated to scattered storms will be possible but remain fairly hit-and-miss.

Storm chances are set to increase by late in the week as the remnants of soon-to-be Tropical Storm Gordon become picked up by an upper level system and are shunted to the northeast.
