JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- New details have been released on an officer-involved shooting near a nightclub in Jacksonville early Monday morning.

  • Rodney Pridgen was charged Tuesday for fighting and shooting a gun at a nightclub.
  • It happened at a nightclub located on North Marine Boulevard.
  • Officer is on desk duty after shooting at Pridgen.

Jacksonville police said 22-year-old Rodney Pridgen was charged Tuesday for fighting and shooting a gun at the Champagne Lounge nightclub located in the Red Carpet Inn on North Marine Boulevard.

Pridgen ran from the area with the gun.

When officers caught up with him, they said he made a threatening move which caused Cpl. Cristopher Wilson to shoot.

The shot did not hit Pridgen but since Wilson fired his gun he's been placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure.           

Pridgen is at the Onslow County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
