NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. -- There were ten reported rip current-related rescues at Wrightsville Beach on Wednesday.

  • 10 people were rescued from rip currents in Wrightsville Beach Wednesday.
  • No drownings reported.
  • If you get caught in a rip current swim sideways, not into it.

Experts warned earlier in the day that rip currents might be strong.

Luckily, there were no reported drownings on the NC coast.

National Weather Service expects more rip currents Thursday.

If you are swimming and get caught in a rip current, experts advise swimming sideways and out from the shore, rather than trying to paddle back against it.
