Cloudy skies will lock temperatures into the 40s for most of the day Tuesday making this the coolest day of the week. Highs may briefly hit 50 in southeaster North Carolina for an hour so in the afternoon.

Despite the cloudy conditions, very little if any measurable rain is expected over most of the area. Southeastern North Carolina should see nothing more than a few brief sprinkles. Northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks have a somewhat higher chance for spotty light showers in the afternoon.

A warm up will begin Wednesday afternoon that will bring highs back to the 60s for most of the region. The Outer Banks may only see highs in the 50s Thursday.

Much of the area can then look for highs in the 70s by Thursday and Friday.

Mostly cloudy days are forecast through the end of the week with only slight chances for showers. Rain chances now look to increase for the first half of the upcoming weekend.
