The organization NC Rural Center is working to help those working to get back on their feet, all while preparing for their upcoming 2018 NC Rural Assembly.

The two day event takes place on November 15 and 16 this year, with the theme, “Revving the Rural Engine: Local Leaders Driving Innovation.”

According to the organization’s President and CEO Patrick Woodie, the gathering is set to engage the next generation or rural leaders and help them build a brighter tomorrow, both economically, socially and for community cohesion as well as prosperity.

This year’s keynote speakers are James and Deborah Fallows, the authorities of the book Our Towns.  Much like the NC Rural Center itself, the couple traveled the country in a single-engine plane, visiting dozens of towns, and speaking with civic leaders, educators, environmentalist and more, places that aren’t often covered in stories.
