COLUMBUS, Ohio– October is breast cancer awareness month, and Spectrum News 1 is highlighting the health systems, organizations, and technology making a difference to Ohioans with breast cancer.

  • 10,000 new cases estimated to be diagnosed in 2019
  • 1,700 women are estimated to die from breast cancer this year
  • Dr. Natalie Jones with Ohio Health talks cancer awareness in the studio

The American Cancer Society estimates that in Ohio alone, more than ten-thousand new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed. 

They add that seventeen-hundred women will die from the disease this year.

To help explain risks and prevention, Dr. Natalie Jones, a breast and melanoma surgeon with Ohio Health, joins anchor Sophia Constantine in the Spectrum News 1 studio.
