We have a marginal to slight severe risk (level 1-2 of 5 threat) in place.

The primary threat will be damaging winds, but we can't rule out an isolated tornado. The threat will end later this evening. People need to monitor conditions and be prepared for possible severe weather.

Here is what the radar could look like at 4 p.m.

Storms will sporadically pop up across western to central N.C.

The storms will then continue east through the early evening, affecting cities like Charlotte, Raleigh and Fayetteville.

As we head into the night, the storms will move closer to the coast, where we'll see rain and some thunder linger into the early morning of Tuesday.
