Many across central and western North Carolina were living in a winter wonderland two years ago.
Asheville set a daily record, receiving 5.3 inches, with a two-day total for the event hitting 11.1 inches.
In Charlotte, where 2.7 inches of snow fell, a daily record was also set.
Twelve inches of snow fell in Greensboro, marking the second snowiest December day on record.
Up to 11 inches fell in parts of the Triangle. In Raleigh, 7 inches of snow caused officials to encourage people to stay off the roads due to poor travel conditions.
The most impressive total was in Saluda, in Polk and Henderson counties, where 18.5 inches fell.

About 200,000 North Carolinians lost power.
