NORTH CAROLINA – 2020 has had a very wet first five months for much of the Carolinas.
Let's look at the data city by city.
Charotte: Rainfall year to date: 27.93" - this represents a yearly surplus of 10.97"
Raleigh: Rainfall year to date: 21.41" - this represents a yearly surplus of 4.38"
Greensboro: Rainfall year to date: 28.13" - this represents a yearly surplus of 11.43"
Wilmington: Rainfall year to date: 24.95" - this represents a yearly surplus of 6.05"
Lumberton: Rainfall year to date: 24.44" - this represents a yearly surplus of 9.37"
Even more incredible are the numbers from Greenville-Spartanburg down in South Carolina. The GSP Airport has received an incredible 41.24" of rain, a yearly surplus of 21.81"! GSP's average yearly rainfall is 47.19," so that location is less than 6" of rain away from the yearly average....incredible since there are seven months remaining in the year.
