The month of May has certainly gotten off to a warm start. In fact, through the first 3 days of the month relative to average temperatures:

  • Charlotte is a +10
  • Cape Hatteras is a +9
  • Wilmington is a +4
  • Raleigh is a +9
  • Greensboro is a +10.

But how did April stack up? Here's the departure from normal for temperatures and precipitation.

  • Charlotte +3.7, +2.29"
  • Cape Hatteras +6.5, +4.97"
  • Wilmington +2.4, +1.01"
  • Raleigh +1.6, +3.44"
  • Greensboro +2.7, +0.59"

So in general, April was warm and wet. A notable exception to the warmth was the chilly Easter weekend, but that chilly setup over the Easter holiday was basically an island of cool in a sea of April warmth.
