EAST BEND, N.C. — The last time Forbush High School won a conference title in women's tennis was 43 years ago.

This season, that came to an end with an undefeated season in the Western Piedmont Athletic Conference record. A big reason for the team's success was senior Abigail Lydick.

The two-sport athlete didn't start playing tennis until her sophomore season. Also a member of the track team, Lydick takes part in the DECA club and volunteers for the Junior Civitans.

She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Art Club.

Lydck spends her time voulunteering with the Yadkin Christian Ministries and works concessions for other sporting events at the school. She is highly motivated and has been accepted into Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with plans to study astronomy and astrophysics.
