CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Thomas Davis will not be a member of the Carolina Panthers in 2019.

The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker announced on his Twitter account Wednesday night that the team informed him they were going in a different direction. He says they told him the news Monday and it has been “extremely tough” to accept.

“I wanted to be back. I wanted to be a part of a group that came and just right the wrongs that we had this season,” he said.

Davis spent his entire 14-year career with the Panthers and is the franchise's all-time leader in tackles.
