DURHAM, N.C. — Former Vice President Joe Biden is making a stop in North Carolina on Sunday.

The Democratic presidential candidate is attending a voter mobilization event at 1 p.m. on October 18.

According to a release from his campaign on Friday, Biden will attend the event to "urge North Carolinians to make their plan to vote early during the state’s in-person early voting period, which ends October 31."

Earlier in the week, Biden's running mate Sen. Kamala Harris was scheduled to appear at an event promoting the first day of early in-person voting in the state.

Her appearance was canceled however, after an announcement saying several people connected to the campaign had tested positive for COVID-19.

The campaign says Harris wasn't in close contact prior to the positive tests and won't be quarantining, but out of caution, has canceled all trips until Sunday. Instead, she plans to hold virtual events.

Biden was also not in close contact with the individuals, officials say.
