What You Need To Know

  • A Greensboro artist has turned his YouTube channel into a career

  • Peter Deligdisch is the creator and star of "Peter Draws" which features how-to videos, reviews, and other visually-driven topics

  • He now has more than 870,000 YouTube subscribers and also self-published several books on Amazon

"I kind of have a vague idea of a direction I'm heading, but I don't plan out my route," Deligdisch says.

Whether through pen reviews, discussing art, or just talking about life, Deligdisch has been able to make this a career.

He gets his money from YouTube ad revenue, from sponsorships, and from self-published books on Amazon. In fact, he's been so successful that he's been able to use that to pursue an Interior Architecture Degree at University of North Carolina Greensboro.

"I'm not sure how long YouTube will be around," Deligdisch says. "There's no guarantees, so it's a good bit of future-proofing."

He's also started incorporating new elements into his videos, like music.

"I've always, in the back of my mind, kind of wanted to be a rock star. It's just another creative outlet. Music is always nice, but it's hard to find good royalty-free music. Not that this is good royalty-free music, but at least it's mine if it's a little tune that I figure out," Deligdisch says.
