NORTH CAROLINA -- A fairly weak cold front is bringing some rain to our area.

Rain will spread from the mountains to the Piedmont this afternoon and evening then to the coast late this evening through the night. It will be strictly a rain event for most of the state but there may be some rumbles of thunder at the coast overnight. Severe weather is not expected.

The front with then quickly move offshore with plenty of sunshine for all of us this Mother's Day weekend. It will be quite cool though. In fact, Freeze Warnings are up for the mountain zones tonight.

It will be cold enough early Mother's Day for some frost across the Piedmont with upper 30s and lower 40s at the beach. Temperatures will remain below average through the middle of next week.
