DENVER, N.C. – Race City Steel has built its business making parts for NASCAR over the past 13 years.

However, since NASCAR shut down in March, the Lincoln County company has transitioned to manufacturing sneeze guards to aid people and businesses during the coronavirus scare.

Using materials on hand, owner Damon Lusk said a family member came up with the idea.

"We thought it was kinda funny and the next day, we're like, ‘Hey, we're on to something!’ That night we worked more, came up with a new design, and the next thing you know, we've sold tens of thousands...ten of thousands? A lot of thousands," Lusk said.

Lusk said banks and convenience stores have been the biggest sales.
