NATIONWIDE — If you fell into a little football depression when the season ended this year, here’s some good news for you!

Next season could be a little longer. Football team owners are considering expanding the NFL playoffs. An NFL spokesperson says owners and executives are expected to discuss potential terms of a new collective bargaining agreement Thursday.

ESPN, citing league sources, reports they're considering expanding the playoffs from six teams per conference to seven. Owners also want to increase the number of regular games from 16 to 17 and reduce preseason games from four to three.

ESPN also reports that the changes would take effect for the upcoming season.
