CAROLINA BEACH — Water customers in an area of New Hanover County can resume normal water usage, according to town officials.

  • Boil advisory was issued on Tuesday, February 18 following main break
  • Customers located between Monroe Avenue and Clarendon Avenue from 5th Street to Dow Road were impacted
  • Advisory was lifted Thursday morning

The advisory, which impacted customers in located between Monroe Avenue and Clarendon Avenue from 5th Street to Dow Road, was rescinded on February 20.

Officials say a main break caused low pressure, which increased the potential for back siphonage and the introduction of bacteria into the water system, and prompted Tuesday's boil advisory.

In a release Thursday, town officials said, "Bacteriological analysis results of drinking water samples collected recently from this water system show no coliform bacteria present. The system has resumed normal operations."
