CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Online dating websites report Sunday, January 5th is the busiest day of the year for them. Some have even named it "Dating Sunday."

  • The first Sunday of the new year is reportedly the busiest day for online dating
  • The day has become known by many as "Dating Sunday"
  • The Better Business Bureau has some tips to keep those who choose to swipe right safe

It's the first Sunday of the New Year.

While many people may have a New Year's resolution to lose weight or exercise more, others want to find a romantic partner. Coffee Meets Bagel reports in 2018 there was a 75 percent spike in new-user sign ups on dating Sunday.

“It’s just like dating in public, it’s just another avenue of dating,” Kieon Dravel said. “I have nothing against it.”

“I have some friends who recently got into relationships and they met people online,” said Amanda Snead.

The Better Business Bureau is warning those on these sites to take precautions. It says to always meet a person in a public place and never send money to someone you meet online. For their full list of tips click here.
