FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Thursday morning in Fayetteville.

  • Man shot during large gathering
  • Died from injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital
  • No arrests made at this time

The shooting happened shortly after 3 a.m. at a home on Furnish Drive. Police say a large group of people were gathering at the home when a "disturbance began" between several of the attendees.

During the disturbance, police say shots were fired and the victim was hit. 

He was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment, but died from injuries. The victim has been identified as Lavon Jamel McMillian, 25, of Hope Mills.

No arrests have been made at this time.
