  • One proposal involves adding a large green space called Queens Park north of Uptown
  • Next month, 800 households in Mecklenburg County will be surveyed
  • More hearings will be held to present the findings

One proposal involves adding a large green space called Queens Park north of Uptown near North Tryon and North Davidson streets. Right now, the land belongs to Norfolk Southern Railroad.

The county's new comprehensive park and recreation master plan is called Meck Playbook. It establishes standards and recommendations for county recreation areas and will shape future growth.

Thursday, community meetings started the feedback process.

“When we get individuals coming from all parts of Mecklenburg County and our seven incorporated municipalities, including the City of Charlotte, we get the kind of input we need to make informed decisions and guide our growth for the future,” they county’s park and recreation director Lee Jones said.

Next month, 800 households in Mecklenburg County will be surveyed to get ideas on what you would like to see in terms of parks and green space. More hearings will be held to present the findings.
