The World Hemp Market in Durham comes just a couple weeks after the State Senate voted on a proposal to ban smokable hemp next year.

Event organizer Daniel Jordan says Sunday's market was an opportunity to educate the public about hemp.

"You look at other states who have hot commodity flower, they're doing well, so I feel like the more we're able to come together and come to that understanding we can work through that process without a ban," said Jordan.

The House, which still needs to vote on the proposal, is pushing for an even earlier ban.
