CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It was four years ago when Bree Newsome climbed the flag pole at the South Carolina State House to take down the Confederate flag.
- She was arrested and recently got her items back
- Now they are heading to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture
- She says she still stands by her actions
Newsome was arrested and the flag was put back up, but eventually taken down. She says she just recently got back the items she had in her possession at the time of her arrest, but now it is all heading to Washington D.C.
Her helmet, harness, phone and back pack will be housed at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Since this day, Newsome says she stands by her actions and will continue to advocate for the dismantling of racism.
