LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The principal at Lincolnton High School in Lincoln County has resigned.

  • A search warrant says Tony Worley conducted several exchanges through Grindr, Snapchat and Instagram
  • It says nude photos were found on the accounts of young males
  • The district says Worley voluntarily resigned Tuesday

The district office confirms they have been investigating Tony Worley for alleged misconduct with students. A search warrant, executed by the Lincolnton Police Department, is for child pornography and indecent liberties with a student.

According to the warrant, a detective with the police department went to the school district office for the county and spoke with the director of human resources, who had a student from the high school coming to him with allegations about the principal.

The warrant says there were several exchanges between the student and the principal through social media accounts on Snapchat, Grindr, and Instagram. There were also nude photos found on those accounts of young males. It says Worley's home was in the pictures. His floor and his bedroom were recognized in the photos by the human resources director.

The document also lists several incidents on different days dating back to April of this year. The warrant says the student admitted to having a romantic relationship with Worley. Several of Worley's vehicles, including a work car, were searched along with phones, computers and USBs.

The district says Worley voluntarily resigned Tuesday. Police say charges are pending as officers work with the sheriff's office and the State Bureau of Investigations.
