ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders made his first public appearances in North Carolina for his 2020 presidential bid as part of a long weekend traveling through the South.

  • Bernie Sanders held a rally in Asheville midday Friday
  • He also held a rally late afternoon in Charlotte
  • His tour will also take him to South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama

The Vermont senator held outdoor rallies in Asheville at the Salvage Station venune and late in the afternoon in Charlotte on campus at Central Piedmont Community College.

 

 

A few things discussed were restoring voting rights, reforming K-12 education, eliminating poverty, and addressing environmental racism.
Sanders' weekend tour also will take him to South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.
