  • According to an Instagram post, they met with a former inmate to have lunch and start the procedure of removing his face tattoos.

After photos surfaced of the duo at Monroe Regional Airport Many said on social media that the couple was spotted in south Charlotte's Ballantyne neighborhood.

Though Kim and Kanye have not said yet why they were here, according to an Instagram post from Azaria Algarin, they came to Charlotte on Tuesday after receiving a letter from a former inmate, Algarin's brother. The post, written by Azaria, says the couple had lunch with the family at The Lights Juicery and Cafe and is helping the man remove his face tattoos.

"Never in a million years did I think Kim would write him back (or even read his letter), fly in right after the Met Gala (not to mention her 4th baby is due at any minute), invest in our family & laugh/relate to us over the smallest things," the post says.

Kardashian West has been making headlines recently for her work in criminal justice reform. As of right now, she's gotten 17 inmates, mostly first-time and/or non-violent drug offenders, released from prison. She met with President Trump last year, who would go on to grant clemency to 63-year-old Alice Johnson.

It is unclear whether or not the couple is staying in Charlotte for several days, or has left already.

Regardless, it's safe to say Charlotteans are talking about it:

Kardashian West is currently studying for the California State Bar in hopes of soon becoming a lawyer.
