CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Expect another day with highs in the mid-80s Friday, but this time coupled with a small chance for afternoon storms! A disturbance off the coast of Florida will brush against the Carolina's this afternoon, bringing a small chance for showers and storms east of I-77. The mountains will also look for additional storms this afternoon complete with some brief, heavy downpours as a cold front nears from the west.

By late Saturday, this aforementioned cold front will slowly begin to push into the area. This will lead to afternoon scattered storms, with a few severe storms possible. Showers will persist into Saturday night with additional storms expected to fire up Sunday.

By Monday dry and slightly cooler weather returns.
