CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After another muggy, cloudy start to the day Thursday, expect clouds to scour out by the afternoon, leaving us with highs in the mid 80s under partly sunny skies. The mountains will have to watch for some scattered storms developing after noon Thursday.

Thursday night will remain dry but mild and muggy with clouds building back into the area for Friday morning. This will be ahead of an area of low pressure system moving up the Atlantic coast. As this pushes northward, a few showers and storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening for areas east of I-77 nearest to the state line. Look for additional mountain storms Friday afternoon as well.

A cold front moving in Saturday into Sunday will keep storm chances in the forecast for the weekend. Expect humid, warm weather to press on before a drier airmass moves back in for Monday.
